A Year Before Calling the Nestre App an Essential, $45,000,000 Worth Calvin Johnson Jr. Had Invested Heavily in the Same Mental Wellness Startup

Calvin Johnson Jr. retired from the NFL after just nine seasons but is worth a whopping $45,000,000. Despite a relatively short stint in the league, he was dominant enough to etch a name for himself and even be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He has stayed active through his foundation and business projects.

The HoFer owns a cannabis research company called Primitiv, founded along with his former teammate Rob Sims. In a video uploaded on GQ Sports a month ago, Calvin had called the app an absolute essential for him. As it turns out, a year before this interview, the legendary footballer had invested around $1.6 million in the same company.

Calvin Johnson Jr. Funds Health and Wellness App

In 2022, Nestre, a health and wellness app, revealed that it raised $1.6M in funding, with investors including Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Calvin Johnson Jr. and former Detroit Lions teammate Rob Sims. In the statement, Johnson said,

“I am excited to partner with NESTRE and help advance its vision for increasing mental wellness and cognitive performance to help people perform better, feel better, and get better…with NESTRE, I believe we can truly change the game and get on the leading edge of personalized mental and cognitive solutions.”

The former WR, who was nicknamed ‘Megatron’ has not slowed down since retirement. Apart from his entrepreneurial ventures, he is also a business consultant for a firm ‘Locker Room Consulting,’ that helps professional athletes “reach their full potential before, during, and after the game.

HoFer Indorses Mental Wellbeing

Calvin Johson Jr is a huge advocate for training your body and mind. Even after retiring, he has kept in shape. For his mental well-being, the HoFer uses the Nestre app. Speaking to GQ Sports about his “Essentials,” he said,
“You know how you build muscle in the gym, imagine you could do the same thing but this (Nestre app) is the new gym and your brain is the muscle. I think the one thing this app has helped me with is my emotional intelligence. I think that where you stand mentally, understanding what your triggers are, it helps with your communication.”
Johnson retired on his own terms, honoring how his body felt, and honoring his time in the league. Even after retirement, the Megatron has not stopped hustling and surely there are more remarkable adventures to be had in the rest of his life. He embodies that life need not stop after retirement and you can continue to chase your passions.
