8 Years Ago, Baker Mayfield's Beloved Mom's Devastating Car Accident Completely Changed the QB's Attitude; "I Could Tell Something Wasn't Right"

After getting released from the Carolina Panthers in December, Mayfield’s contract worth $1.35 million was inherited by the Los Angeles Rams after they claimed him off waivers on December 6, 2022. He played three games for the Rams, and when the season ended, he signed a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now, that Baker Mayfield, who’s never made it to the Pro Bowl, is all set to replace Tom Brady, an old video of him chugging beer like a boss has resurfaced online.

Mayfield had a tough season last year. After trying to settle with the Panthers and then with the Los Angeles Rams, the former Oklahoma signal’s value was seen dropping massively. But when he played game-winning drives and showed results with the Rams, the Buccaneers felt like he could change his and the team’s narrative.

As the season approaches, everything related to Mayfield has been trending. From his high school days, when he was considered a gifted baseball player, to the time when he chugged beer at the Indians game, internet sleuths have been digging out everything they possibly can related to Baker.

Baker Mayfield went super viral after chugging a beer at the Indians game

The former Cleveland Browns quarterback is a big baseball fan, particularly a big Cleveland Indians fan. A few years ago, in 2019, the Indians, now known as the Cleveland Guardians, played against the Los Angeles Angels. The Heisman Trophy winner attended the game with his wife. He looked visibly relaxed in his Indians jersey, and when the camera was panned on him, the former first-overall pick showed his party trick to everyone.

At first, Mayfield drank out of the beer can normally, but when he got a new one, he bit into it, which created a hole. Then he chugged the beer like a boss and went on to show off his Francisco Lindor jersey on his back. Baker Mayfield hyped up the crowd by telling them to roar as loudly as they could!

In 2018, after getting selected as the first-round pick by the Browns, Mayfield walked onto a baseball field to throw the first pitch at the Mariners vs Indians game. He received criticism from the media after his throw went too high and missed the strike zone. Even though it wasn’t one of his shining moments, stats and former teammates had different opinions. They thought that the Bucs QB could have played in college and possibly entered the professional league. But as we all know, his career took a turn, and now he’s set to replace the seven-time Super Bowl winner, Tom Brady.

Does Mayfield want to replace Brady or does he want to leave his own imprint on the Bucs?

After the Pewter Pirates signed the 28-year-old, many people wondered if he was ready to fill the big shoes that Tampa Tom left. When asked about replacing future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady, he had said:

“Listen, I’m never going to be Tom Brady. There’s a reason he has won so many Super Bowls. He’s the greatest of all time. There’s no doubt about that,” Mayfield said during his introductory press conference in Tampa Bay as per USA Today.

“I’m not going to try and be Tom. I’m going to be me. That’s what’s gotten me to this point. We’re going to do it differently.”

Mayfield is now feeling comfortable and hopeful about his recent signing with the Buccaneers, which is a one-year contract that is reportedly worth $8.5 million. This is particularly satisfying for Mayfield, especially after how things went for him last year.
