At Hard Rock Stadium, the Dolphins are playing their final regular-season game. On Sunday, January 8, 2023, the team will play its 17th and final game of the year against the New York Jets.

The Dolphins want to finish the regular season on a winning note and clinch a postseason spot. Miami can achieve this goal with ease if they triumph on Sunday and the Patriots lose to the Bills.

The Dolphins would have their third consecutive winning season if they won, improving to 9-8. Miami last experienced that between 2001 and 2003. If the Dolphins prevail, it would be their seventh straight victory over the Jets at Hard Rock Stadium.

The only thing standing in the way of the Dolphins reaching the postseason is their injury list, which is quite lengthy. One of the biggest setbacks they have encountered recently is the injury to star linebacker Bradley Chubb.

Bradley Chubb Injury Update

Chubb (ankle) is doubtful to play against the Jets on Sunday.

Due to an ankle injury that developed late in the week, Chubb missed Miami’s Week 17 loss to New England. However, he will have a chance to play this Sunday after turning in back-to-back limited sessions to finish Week 18 preparation.

Chubb missed practice once more on Wednesday. Prior to the team’s Week 18 must-win regular season finale against the Jets, head coach Mike McDaniel believes Chubb is improving, but he did not practiced on Wednesday.

At the 2022 NFL trade deadline, Chubb was acquired from the Denver Broncos. He has appeared in six Dolphins games. Chubb has a total of 12 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.

The Dolphins have averaged 95.3 rushing yards and 273.6 passing yards per game in 16 games this season. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle have combined for 2,999 yards receiving. The pair is only one yard away from becoming the fourth teammate in NFL history to have more than 3,000 yards in the same season.
