Despite Naming Travis Kelce The Greatest Tight End, Shannon Sharpe Brands Tyreek Hill as the Best Pass Catcher

Travis Kelce in his 10 years in the NFL has garnered a reputation of being one of the best Tight Ends in the game. Shannon Sharpe too believes he has left all his worthy competitors behind and is the best to play the position. However, Sharpe feels Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill still outperforms him as the most dangerous pass catcher.

On the latest episode of ESPN’s First Take, Sharpe calls Hill one of the most potent offensive weapons and says he still outperforms Kelce while admitting that Kelce is one of the best TEs in the world and possibly one of the best to play the position. Hill who has been in the constant conversation for the league MVP, played with Kelce for the Chiefs for 6 fruitful years culminating in the club’s 2nd  Super Bowl victory in 2019 after 50 years.

Travis Kelce is the G.O.A.T Tight End?

When asked of ESPN’s First Take if Travis Kelce is the most dangerous pass catcher, Shannon Sharpe was full of praise for the Chiefs TE. He calls him the G.O.A.T. tight end for what he is doing in the NFL. Sharpe says-

“Everybody knows what I feel about Trav. I call him my nephew. He is the G.O.A.T tight end for what he has done in the regular season and how he steps up even more in the post-season. I think he is the best and greatest TE to ever play this game. Travis, I believes is the consistent as far as catching the targets with a huge catch radius.”

Fans still feel it is Gronk who deserves to be called the G.O.A.T  Tight end for what achieved in his short injury-plagued but meaningful career.  After Sharpe’s take, Fans were quick to remind everyone and express their opinion that Rob Gronkowski is the best. One impassioned fan said- “We must have forgotten how good Gronk was. I remember watching him catch everything in a ten-mile radius. Not to mention how dominant of a blocker he was. The dude forgot Gronk existed for a second. Gronk is the GOAT TE 🐐. Better the Gronk???? Hell naw! Gronk, Sharpe, Tony G, Kelce that’s the order”

Another fan had tweeted on this debate earlier this year:

Sharpe Believes Tyreek Hill is a Superior Pass Catcher

While Travis Kelce might be the best TE in the game right now, Shannon Sharpe believes he is outdone as a pass catcher by the Cheetah. Sharpe while calling Trav the best TE to ever play the game, feels he is not the most dangerous pass catcher. That title goes to Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill. About Tyreek he said-

“Tyreek is the most dangerous pass catcher. He has 53 catches for 902 yards with 7 touchdowns averaging 17 yards catch. He is the most dangerous because he is a threat to hit his head on the goalpost every time he touches the football. He is the most dangerous, most lethal and feared of any position in the NFL.”

Tyreek has been a revelation this season being part of one of the most exciting offenses in the league. His 7 receiving TD is the highest in the league. A shoo-in for NFL MVP Contender, he is well on the pace for 2200 yards this season and has caught 14 – 2o-yard catches. Along with Mahomes on the Chiefs squad, the three were surely a triple threat and a death sentence for any team facing them. Hill and Kelce were already thriving in the offense with Alex Smith at quarterback, but their success multiplied with Mahomes under center.
