Chicago Bears Fan Ruthlessly Pushes a Packers Fan Down Stadium Stairs as Rivalry Turns Into ‘Ugly Brawl’ in Soldier Field
Fan rivalries are an integral part of any sport. No matter the importance of the game, fans are always at each other’s throats, mocking the other team for something or the other. As long as it’s friendly banter, it’s fine. But almost always, there are a few who love to escalate a situation. As was the case during the Green Bay Packers vs Chicago Bears game at Soldier Field in week 14.
A video now doing the rounds on social media, captures an altercation between a Bears fan, and a supposed Packers fan. The duo seems to be at first arguing with words, but within seconds it turns physical. The Bears fan then proceeds to headlock the other man, before sending him tumbling down the stairs. Fortunately, the Packers fan gets up, only to climb up the stairs and get back in his assailant’s face.
No reports have emerged detailing any injuries or lawsuits, but it is not difficult to expect that the Packers fan might have at least had his ego hurt if not his back. Nevertheless, the video also captures a rather grim moment during the altercation. Fans around the pair, even the one recording, seem to egg them on and provoke them into fighting each other. And no one seemed to care enough to stop them either.
Video of fans fighting draws stern reactions from the NFL community
The fight might have gone down well with the fans in the stadium, but the wider NFL community was quick to condemn the act. Although longer footage shows the Packers fan attempting to instigate a fight, fans on Twitter were quick to point out glaring mistakes on both sides, even on the Bears’ management.
While the Bears fan may have gotten the better of the Packers fan, things did not go well for their team. Their loss to the Packers in week 14, and to the Philadelphia Eagles in week 15 saw them slip to a 7-game losing streak. Although their playoff chances are long since over, they’d want to finish the season by at least trying to win their remaining games.
For the Green Bay Packers too, the future is looking dire. Their chances of qualifying through a wildcard spot are very slim, and even that needs favorable results from elsewhere in the conference. It looks like Aaron Rodgers’ optimistic approach may not have done much for the Packers. But hope still remains, and Rodgers will be looking to cling to that till it vanishes.
