"Don't Know if He's Doing That on Purpose": Richard Sherman is Utterly Perplexed by Aaron Rodgers' Practice Video

Aaron Rodgers’s season was cut short on the opening day of the season, putting a damper on the optimism of Jets fans. Rodgers gave glimpses of an early promise in the pre-season. But on just 4th play of the match against the Bills, Rodgers tore his ACL and was declared out for the season. But he seems to be back. He was throwing passes during practice and was even looking fully well as he attended the Jet’s matchup against the Eagles.

Sherman in the latest episode of The Richard Sherman Podcast revealed that it is not normal for anyone to heal an Achilles tear so quickly let alone a 39-year-old. He compared his rehab through a torn Achilles in 2017 by claiming that by week six he was on a scooter.

Jets’ Hopes Soar as QB Throws Passes

Just six weeks into his rehab after a gruesome Achilles tear, Aaron is already out on the field throwing balls ahead of the Eagles matchup. His early practice video not only surprised fans but also made Richard Sherman compare it with his own rehab journey.

Richard Sherman was left utterly amazed after seeing Rodgers slinging balls on the field just six weeks into his ACL recovery. He compared Aaron’s recovery to his recovery after a similar injury. Richard Sherman on his Podcast talked about the recovery and said,

“I don’t know what Aaron is doing because he’s just 6 weeks out of surgery and he’s out there playing catch and throwing on a surgically repaired foot. I have never seen anything like it.  So it’s encouraging and I am sure his teammates are seeing and finding encouragement.”

Sherman says Rodgers being out there is giving the Jets fans hope. They have reasons to feel optimistic again, especially after 2 successive wins going into a bye week. Jets fans before the start had pinned their hopes on Rodgers. They were thinking of going to play-offs with an already great defensive system of Robert Saleh in place. Rodgers left the Packers after 17 years.

Aaron Rodgers Doing it on Purpose?

Richard Sherman on his podcast says that Rodgers throwing the ball and playing catch on that foot is something he is doing on purpose. During his injury, Sherman wasn’t doing that. About that, he says-

” Six weeks after my ACL injury, I wasn’t playing catch or throwing the ball. I was still on the scooter. It is encouraging and he is encouraging his teammates. I don’t know if he is doing that on purpose.”

Sherman suffered an ACL injury in 2017 while playing for the Seattle Seahawks against the Arizona Cardinals. He was ruled out for the season. He underwent successful surgery and returned to the field the next season for the 49ers.

Rodgers on the Pat McAffe show teased fans about his possible return during the playoff if the Jets make it. When asked specifically by Pat McAfee whether he might play in the playoffs, Rodgers said-

“Anything’s possible. I’m not going to make any of those statements, I don’t think that’s fair to myself. I’m going to try and push this thing as much as it will allow me to. Give me your doubts, give me your prognostications, and then watch what I do.”

It remains to be seen whether Rodgers will be joining the Jets during the playoffs, but his practice session has surely raised hopes in the hearts of his fans and teammates.
