Justin Fields

Justin Fields has been nothing short of incredible during Bears training camp, even making those crazy Patrick Mahomes level throws.

Bears fans are absolutely hyped for the first preseason game of the year against the Miami Dolphins as it means that their first round draft pick is going to see the NFL field for the first time in his career.

After years of disappointing quarterback play, the Bears are hoping that Fiels will breathe new life into the Bears’ offense because of how great he was during his college years. Chicago famously traded up to select Fields at 11th overall in hopes of finding their franchise quarterback.

Justin Fields Has Been Making Patrick Mahomes Esque Throws During Bears Training Camp

Part of the reason why Bears fans are hyped up on Justin Fields is because of how great he’s looked during Bears’ training camp. He’s gotten attention from coaches, players, and even opposing teams’ beat reporters.

Why? Well, he’s been making incredible throws and plays all over the field. There was one particular touchdown he threw that’ll definitely have you thinking of the Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback.

Yep, Fields clearly has some elite talent. It’s not everyday you’ll see a rookie quarterback be able to make a throw like that, training camp or not.

The Bears and head coach Matt Nagy haven’t committed to Fields as the starter for the regular season just yet because they know he still has a ways to go in his development. Additionally, the Bears offensive line is also a major question mark heading into the season, so it’d probably be better to not throw Fields to the wolves immediately.

That’s exactly where Andy Dalton comes in. The Bears brought in veteran QB Andy Dalton for the 2021 season. Last season with the Cowboys, Dalton started in nine games after Dak Prescott went down with a season-ending injury.

Going 4-5 as a starter, Dalton completed 64.9% of his passes for 2,170 yards with 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Those aren’t mind blowing stats, but the point is that Dalton is a veteran. He’s had experience in the NFL before.

For right now, it’s better that Fields sits and learns from him before going against top tier defenses like the Los Angeles Rams (with Aaron Donald) in week one and the Cleveland Browns (with Myles Garrett) in week three.

Nevertheless, fans are still excited for any Fields gameplay they can see, and so the preseason marks the perfect opportunity for them to kick back and watch their exciting young quarterback go to work.
