Is Aaron Rodgers Joining The San Francisco 49ers? NFL Insider Sparks Fresh Trade Rumors
Aaron Rodgers is a name to reckon with in the world of the NFL. Although his team wasn’t able to do much in the playoffs in the last couple of seasons, his individuals numbers ended up earning him back to back MVP honors.
While there is no doubt about the fact that Aaron loves controversies probably more than anything else in the world, no one can deny that he is a fantastic footballer who can make plays at crucial instances.
However, during the 2022 season, Aaron has struggled big time. He wasn’t able to develop a good chemistry with the young receivers in the unit when Davante Adams left and to make matters worse, he just wasn’t up to the mark in most games.
Aaron Rodgers Has Been Rather Ordinary This Season
The Green Bay Packers had a choice, either to go for Davante Adams and rope in a new quarterback, or keep Aaron in the unit and spend money on new receivers. They ended up taking the second option and it would be fair to say that the decision hasn’t paid off.
Actually, not even Adams has been able to deliver for the Las Vegas Raiders, he is missing Rodgers as much as Rodgers is missing him. As far as Green Bay are concerned, they showered cash on Aaron by giving him a $150 million extension, but are now facing pressure from the fans who want them to bench the reigning MVP for Jordan Love.
Moreover, there have been rumors that because his current season is going badly, Rodgers might contemplate retiring from the sport quite soon. Amidst all this, another massive rumors has emerged, courtesy The Athletic’s Jeff Howe.
According to Jeff, the 49ers can be a potential landing spot for Aaron next year as the Green Bay might contemplate trading him. “If Rodgers desires a new landscape, the 49ers immediately come to mind, but they don’t have a first-round pick until 2024 because they already moved up for Lance.”
“Perhaps they can move Lance and flip that capital to acquire Rodgers, but would it be enough? That’s why Brady or retaining Jimmy Garoppolo feels more likely for San Francisco,” Jeff added.
It will be interesting to see where Aaron ends up next season.
