Back in 2014, Brazilian soccer star Neymar and model Gisele Bündchen were the “Dream Team” on the cover of  Vogue Brazil, with the subhead “Champions of the World.”

Both, Neymar Jr. and Gisele Bundchen are currently in the news, Neymar for his outstanding victory over South Korea in the FIFA round of 16, and Gisele for her divorce with Tom Brady.

In 2014, soccer star Neymar Jr. and model Gisele Bündchen worked together on a cover photo shoot for Vogue Magazine Brazil. They both come from a soccer-playing nation which is among the best in the world.

How did Neymar’s cover with Gisele Bündchen ignite a rivalry?

The cover was a promotion for their national team as the 2014 FIFA World Cup drew near. But at the same time, the Neymar-Gisele cover and the cover for Vogue Portugal were in conflict. Cristiano Ronaldo was Portugal’s face.

While CR7 made a much more audacious decision at the time, Gisele and Neymar opted for a stylish simplicity. The Portuguese star had previously appeared on the cover alongside his ex-girlfriend Irina Shayk. Because they revealed far more than was necessary, those covers drew a lot of flak for the star.

Following the controversy caused by Cristiano Ronaldo and Irina Shayk’s nude cover shoot, Vogue Brazil responded with a cover featuring soccer star Neymar posing with supermodel Gisele Bündchen.

Neymar, who was a rising star at the time, is now the face of the Brazilian soccer team, and Ronaldo does not require an intro. Gisele has been in the spotlight this year due to his alleged new boyfriend, who is purported to be a jujutsu trainer, and her divorce from NFL legend Tom Brady.
