Tom Brady announced his second retirement in February 2023. The 7x Super Bowl champion believed it was best for him to hang up his cleats and enjoy his time in retirement. Though his retirement was expected, many were shocked that the future Hall of Famer called it quits without adding an eighth Super Bowl ring to his collection. Since February, Brady has been dodging questions about his comeback. In fact, he even had to bring his kitten into the conversation to just keep the comeback rumors at bay. However, now it seems like the former NFL quarterback will not be able to avoid the big question anymore.

It all started when the Tennessee Titans selected Will Levis as the 33rd overall pick in the second round. Levis was supposed to get selected in the first round only. Moreover, as there is no Brady to lead them this year, it was expected that Tampa Bay Buccaneers will rope him in. However, as we all saw, that didn’t happen. Tampa’s unwillingness to get Levis ended up giving rise to a new rumor in the NFL world.
Will Tom Brady return to play for another year?
The Pewter Pirates picked Calijah Kancey in the first round. Fans started speculating about why the Bucs went back on their decision to draft Levis. It is certainly interesting that Tampa Bay, who were set on selecting the Kentucky QB, went for someone else. Some even believe that it is because they wanted to bring Tampa Tom back on the squad. But how is that even possible?
Will Levis WAS a LOCK to go to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers right?
Who the hell is Calijah Kancey?

Tampa Bay already has traded for Baker Mayfield from the Los Angeles Rams. That made him the starting quarterback for the team. Kyle Trask is the backup QB and Kancey is the third-string QB. If they wanted to re-sign Brady, they certainly would not have gone through all the hassle. Hence, the theory put forth by the fans has no base.
Story of Brady’s failed attempt to trademark a beloved nickname
While Tom might not be planning to make a comeback in the NFL, he sure is looking to expand his TB12 business. In fact, in an attempt to get his hands on as many patents related to him as possible, Tom once tried trademarking one of his nicknames. The champion QB liked “Tom Terrific” so much that he wanted to trademark it. However, the Mets fans did not support him in his endeavors.
The nickname was reserved for the baseball Hall of Famer Tom Seaver. His unmatched legacy was the reason why the US Patents office denied Brady’s request as they didn’t want to shift this honor from one person to another. The U.S. Patents office used the name’s association with a live person and the potential for future misdirection to support the rejection notice.
