The Eagles are dominating 5-0 this season, and stand first in the NFC East. The Philadelphia team went against the Rams on Oct 9 and won 14-23. However, Eagles Center Jason Kelce somehow found the spotlight on him, following his outburst on the coaches on the sidelines.

In the last episode of the New Heights podcast, brothers Jason and Travis Kelce got to the bottom of what went down. Jason explained that he doesn’t get angry very often, but he lost his composure at the game due to his team’s over-reliance on kicker Jake Elliot. The elder Kelce reflected on his behavior and had some interesting insights about his team.
Jason Kelce Frustrated With The Eagles’ Red Zone Offense
Eagles Kicker Jake Elliot has been raking in the accolades this season. He has been NFC Special Teams Player of the Week twice this season. Jake Elliott is averaging 3.25 ‘Field Goals Made’ per game this season through the first four games. He is expected to break the NFL’s single-season ‘Field Goals Made ‘record and already set the franchise’s longest field goal record with 61 yards.
Many, including Jason Kelce, feel that he is carrying the team and the major reason why the Eagles are leading 5-0 in 2023. This overdependence on the kicker was apparently what had Kelce so riled up during the Rams game. Speaking of the Jake Elliott situation to Travis, he said,
“Dude, if your kicker is kicking it that many times, it ain’t good. We’re supposed to be getting in the end-zone…We are Lucky we have Jake Elliot, we wouldn’t be 5-0 without Jake Elliot…We gotta get the red zone fixed.”
The Eagles’ red zone offense is definitely ailing, with them struggling to cash touchdowns inside the 20. They are at the bottom of the league in the red zone offense, at rank 27. The team has gotten to the red zone 19 times this season but only scored 8 touchdowns. Jason also noted,
“Our offense has been really incredible…everything’s gelling, the one thing that has been really frustrating has been the red zone offense… I dont know what we’re ranked…I think we’re bottom of the league, settling for field goals.”
At the Rams game two weeks ago, Jason was spotted extremely frustrated on the sidelines and being very expressive to the coaches. Reflecting on the outburst and his actions, he said,
“The frustration builds up and then you just let it out and it’s not the productive way to do it, and I can’t do that… it’s not good and it’s not respectful…I love my teammates, I love my coaches….If the Starbucks lady messes my order up, I don’t blow my gasket.”

Jason’s explosiveness on the sidelines and his subsequent explanation serve as further testimony of how passionate he remains about the game and his team and like he said, being “really good.”
Fans Appreciate Kelce Taking Accountability for His Actions
After he showed remorse for how he behaved on the sidelines during the Rams game, Travis was quick to tell Jason to go easy on himself and that everyone respects him enough to understand his actions. The fans surely agree with Travis on this one. While fans on Reddit were busy making memes out of Jason’s moment, some showed support for the Eagles Center in the comment section of the video.
Some fans defended his outburst as passion saying, “THIS is why we love Jason…THE PASSION…HE CARES…get fired up!!!” while another said, “It just shows how much Jason cares about the team and its success…keep doing what you do.”

Some comments were also appreciative of Jason taking accountability for his actions, and his humility in recognizing his mistakes. One said, “Takes a man with humility to recognize your flaws and try to improve them. My hat’s off to you sir!“, and another commented, “Honesty, transparency and humility are three big reasons why Jason is so great. HoF material.”
Fans are supportive and understanding of Jason’s actions and understand that it came from a place of passion and care for the team. Most of all, they love him for his transparency, honesty, and passion to be the absolute best.
