The Baltimore Ravens had a super massive chance to further consolidate their position as a legitimately strong NFL unit that is capable of making the playoffs on a consistent basis if they would have been able to retain Lamar Jackson.

They still have a chance to figure something out but it seems unlikely that Jackson will stay at Baltimore after what transpired this offseason. After rounds and rounds of serious talks, the Ravens and Lamar were unable to figure out a deal.

As a result, it was announced that Jackson will feature for the Ravens in the 2022 season without an extension deal for the time being. While not many had any doubts about how Jackson will perform this year knowing that he wasn’t showered with the heaps of green he wanted, fans still lashed out at him for not traveling with his team for the wildcard playoff clash against the Bengals.

Shannon Sharpe thinks Lamar Jackson did the right thing by not going above & beyond to play in the Wildcard Round clash

Lamar had sustained a knee injury during the December 6 game against the Denver Broncos. Since then, the franchise was closely monitoring him in order to obtain his services for the playoffs but it just wasn’t meant to be.

However, still many Ravens fans opined that Lamar could have tried a bit more to participate in the playoff clash. Lashing out at such supporters, NF analyst Shannon Sharpe recently claimed that it would have been a foolish decision from Lamar to come into the game against the Bengals despite not fully recovering from the knee injury.

The last QB that s*cked it up and played was RGIII. Look where it got him. Never the same again. Lamar Jackson would’ve been the biggest damn fool in the history of the NFL if he took his a** out on the field,” Shannon stated.

The renowned analyst made it absolutely clear that instead of playing football, RGIII is talking about football, this is because he went above and beyond to participate in a playoff clash despite not completely recovering from an injury.

Sharpe added that Lamar was in no hurry to speed up his rehab process for a team that didn’t believe in him because if they had faith in him, they would have given Jackson the kind of contract he was searching for.

As far as the Ravens are concerned, they suffered a crushing defeat against the Bengals in the wildcard round and needless to say, they did miss Lamar to a massive extent. It will be interesting to see where Jackson ends up in the coming season.
