Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy made his first NFL start. Purdy’s family was in attendance, and his father had a special moment following his son’s touchdown pass of 27 yards to Christian. Throughout the first half, the rookie quarterback put on a show that eventually brought his father to tears.

Yesterday was Brock Purdy’s first NFL start, and guess what? He was chosen with the very last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He is doing remarkably well.

In Week 13, Purdy’s family watched on television as he replaced an injured Jimmy Garoppolo, but on Sunday, they got to see their son play live, on a trip they had already planned before they knew Purdy would be the starting quarterback.

Purdy had San Francisco up 35-7 against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. He did pretty well for your NFL debut, to say the least. The fact that he was competing against the GOAT makes it even better.

Fans on social media expressed their love for Brock and were overwhelmed by his father’s outpouring of emotions. They praised his performance and acknowledged the importance of his family in his development.

Brock Purdy scripts history on debut

After defeating Tom Brady in his San Francisco 49ers debut, 22-year-old Brock Purdy rewrote history. In his first NFL start, Purdy defeated Brady to become the first quarterback in NFL history to defeat a player twice his age.

Without throwing an interception, the 22-year-old completed 16 of his 21 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns. Brady, on the other hand, had a very difficult time in one of his worst losses of his career, completing just 34 of 55 passes for 253 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

Purdy was on fire in the first half, and his dad, Shawn, broke down in tears when he gave the 49ers a three-score lead with a 27-yard touchdown pass to Christian McCaffrey. Seeing his son compete at the highest level against the best brought tears of joy to his eyes. All in all, the Purdy family experienced a very wholesome moment.
