NFL Trade Rumors: Davante Adams says "it would be a dream" to play with Derek Carr again

Packers star wideout Davante Adams has been caught in the middle of the dispute between Aaron Rodgers and the front office. With all the uncertainty in Green Bay, his future is questionable now too.

Derek Carr, who was Davantae’s teammate at Fresno State, caused waves in the media yesterday after his interview with Bri Mellon. The LV Raiders QB said that he’s looking forward to recruiting Adams in 2022, once his contract with the Packers ends.

“I would always welcome to play with him again,” Carr said. I think it would unlock some things in both of us that people haven’t seen yet. I’m always open to that and I will be recruiting very hard. When that time comes, it will be a full-court press.”

Davante Adams: “It would be a dream to be able to play with [Derek Carr]”

Adams responded to his QB’s comments carefully, but still stirred the pot of social media speculation. “I’ll just continue to be me and just let this thing kind of work itself out and see what happens,” Adams said, also in an interview with Mellon.

“Obviously, I love Derek to death. We’ve got a great friendship and we still communicate really, really consistently. He’s one of my best friends. Obviously it would be a dream to be able to play with him. But I’m a Packer now. Until that point when we make that decision, I guess we just gotta, we’ll see what happens.”

Time and time again, Adams has proved to be a consummate professional, and we can see it in the way he answered the question as well as his unwavering loyalty to Green Bay so far.

However this time around, he could actually be on the way out. He has every reason to be upset with the organization, and is truly one of the most underrated and talented WRs in the league.

Although the Raiders are currently a step down from the Packers, that could change quickly depending on the Rodgers situation. If he were to leave, it would most like be in free agency 2022 and not a trade, simply because the Packers have no real interest in unloading him now.

From the Raiders’ perspective, Adams would be an extremely valuable addition. He would easily step into the WR1 role, ahead of a talented but raw receiver core that features the likes of Henry Ruggs III and Darren Waller.

Finally, make of this what you will, but Adams posted this to his Twitter account yesterday, around the same time the Raiders rumors hit the web.
