Nick Wright Believes the Chiefs Will Be “One of the Worst Teams in the NFL” in Week 17
The Kansas City Chiefs have looked broken in recent weeks. They’ve lost five of their last six games and have officially been eliminated from the playoffs for the first time in a decade. To make matters worse, star QB Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL and will miss the rest of the season.
All in all, it’s been a disastrous year for the Chiefs, and their fans are starting to bail on the campaign.
In fact, pundit Nick Wright, known as a die-hard KC fan, believes they will lose to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. And not just by a little, Wright thinks the Chiefs will look atrocious.
“I think you’re going to see what a bad offense looks like,” Wright shared on First Things First. “I think that the Chiefs are going to lose this weekend… I think the Chiefs are going to look like one of the worst teams in the NFL on Sunday.”
It felt like a bit of an overreaction. After all, the 2-12 Titans are one of the worst teams in the NFL right now. While the Chiefs have been struggling recently, they’re still 3-1 against teams under .500. Not to mention, Tennessee seems to be actively trying to lose to secure a better draft pick.
But given the circumstances, emotions, and Mahomes’ absence, Wright can’t even see the Chiefs getting to double digits in the scoring column on Sunday.
“From playing in nothing but playoff games to being eliminated, Patrick being out there to Patrick not being out there, all the injuries,” Wright listed. “I think all of that in one big stew is going to lead to a team that is going to struggle to get to 10 points.”

They were scathing remarks from a well-known Mahomes and Chiefs supporter. Clearly, Wright has lost all hope for this season and is ready to turn the page to 2026. Maybe the Chiefs, as a team, have too.
In reaction to the post, though, fans couldn’t help but point and laugh at Wright.
“Nick is straight up a front runner, if he can’t brag and talk he’s going to pout and pick the worse team in the league to beat them,” one wrote.
“Gonna be funny AF when they win 17-7,” another joked.
“Nick Wright is a joke. Nothing but a Mahomes famboy. He wants the Chiefs to lose so bad, so he can act like Mahomes is the only thing they have. Hope the Chiefs win out, so we can hear how he tries to spin that,” someone else piled on.
The fans took their turns getting their shots in on Wright. They didn’t appreciate how quickly he was ready to jump ship and make excuses for a bad season. After all, a true fan of the Chiefs would root for them through thick and thin.
But without Mahomes, no playoff stakes, and Travis Kelce nearing the end of his career, the Chiefs feel more vulnerable than they have at any point in the past decade. Sportsbooks are only favoring them by three points against the lowly Titans. With the over-under set at 37.5, that gives Kansas City an implied total of roughly 20 points.
It’s a massive drop from what we’re used to seeing from the Chiefs. It’s also eerily similar to what happened with the New England Patriots and Tom Brady in 2008. After years of excellence, an ACL tear to one of the game’s GOATs has thrown a wrench into The Kingdom.
