Odell Beckham Jr, Who Recently Signed an $18 Million Deal, Had His Career on the Line After Slapping a Guard’s B*tt at an LSU Game

The Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. recently found himself in hot water after he was accused of assaulting a woman. This comes just days after he bagged a lucrative contract in Baltimore. While he remains a hot subject on national television, another incident has resurfaced where he was on the verge of losing his public identity and fame.

Back in 2020, an arrest warrant was issued against the NFL superstar for slapping the buttocks of a Superdome security guard. His adrenaline rush during LSU’s championship victory made him do so, and he nearly whisked himself out of the situation.

An arrest warrant was issued against Odell Beckham Jr

There have been several instances in the past, where NFL athletes found themselves guilty of wrongdoing. More often than not, it gained traction on social media and attracted national attention.

It was the championship game between the LSU Tigers and Clemson, where his alma mater, LSU, won the championship 42-25. OBJ, who was present for the game, allegedly slapped a security guard. Initially, it was reported that the battery happened between him and a police officer, but later, NFL analyst Ian Rapoport clarified the situation, mentioning that it was a guard.

The duo got into a verbal spat, and before they could get physical, they were moved away. Instantly, the victim filed a complaint for misdemeanor battery charges. An arrest warrant was issued against the veteran. The highest penalty he could have faced was 6-months in jail and a fine of $1000. However, the issue seemed to have been resolved later on.

Apart from this battery, he also got involved in distributing cash to the LSU players on the field. It was against the NCAA rules, and he subsequently faced disciplinary action for the same.

OBJ thrives in his NFL career

Ever since the veteran stepped into the NFL arena as a first-round pick in 2014, he has succeeded in delivering results. All these blazing skills and one-hand catches made him the finest player in the arena. He tore his ACL during the 2022 Super Bowl game and had to step away for an entire season. He was searching for a potential landing spot after his rehab.

Beckham toured several NFL teams and facilities during the entire year and finally bagged a one-year deal with the Ravens. He was hoping to find a long-term commitment; however, teams were skeptical about his longevity since his struggles with injuries caused unexpected worries.

The Ravens signed him for $18 million, and he will play for the team in 2023. If he lives up to expectations, the three-time Pro Bowler might secure a multi-year extension soon.
