“Patrick Mahomes Would Have 30 Offer Sheets”: NFL Executive’s Controversial Words about Lamar Jackson Ignites Twitter War

Lamar Jackson, the first-string starting quarterback, the 2016 Heisman winner, the 2019 NFL MVP, the offense maestro, only 26 years old, and one of the players who excite the question: ‘Why isn’t this guy on my team?’ is still unavailable.

Not long ago, the Baltimore Ravens gave Jackson a $32.4 million ‘nonexclusive franchise tag’. Meaning any team can send him an offer sheet. The Ravens would then have five days to match the offer or not. If they choose not to, the QB’s new team would’ve sent a pair of first-round draft picks.

Despite all this, a QB as talented as Lamar hit the open market and no team has yet pounced on the opportunity to bag him. Adding another chapter to the trade drama, an NFL executive expressed his confusion about why Lamar isn’t catching any team’s attention. Igniting another controversy, he decided to put Patrick Mahomes over Lamar Jackson.

Fans react furiously to Patrick Mahomes-Lamar Jackson comparison

The anonymous executive in question was recently asked about the possibility of league owners working together to scuttle an upcoming, fully guaranteed deal for Jackson. He simply said, “‘If Patrick Mahomes were in Lamar’s shoes, he would have 30 offer sheets, all guaranteed.”

Several fans actually supported the Executive’s statement. According to them, the Chiefs QB is better than the Ravens QB because he made it to the playoffs each season, won two MVP awards, and has two Super Bowl rings.

Isn’t it peculiar that Jackson still remains available?

Given how much of a powerhouse Jackson is, one wonders why an athlete like him stays unsigned. Many NFL clubs have spoken out on this situation. Some said that they are happy with who they have, some think that Jackson is prone to injury, and some are still drafting contracts for the biggest name in the league.

Many are also blaming Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns for disturbing the whole market. Jackson is hoping to get a guaranteed contract that pays him as well as the Browns paid Watson and as expected, Ravens aren’t in a mood to repeat the same mistake that the Browns committed.

Additionally, another problem that can affect Jackson’s trade is the lack of an agent. Jackson is representing himself. This is strange and unheard of and adds to the confusion. He does not have a representative that can analyze the market and negotiate on his behalf.

The NFL Draft is coming on April 27, and the young QB does not know for which team he’ll end up playing. Many people are also claiming that the signal-caller is asking for a lot of money which doesn’t make a lot of sense as he is prone to injuries.  It will be interesting to see what kind of deal Lamar finally signs and where he finally ends up.
