"President Travis Kelce" gets interrupted by Patrick Mahomes During his First Speech at White House

Travis Kelce is well known for being a beast on the gridiron. With the body strength of an O-lineman and the speed of a receiver, Kelce has been wreaking havoc on the field for a while now. However, that is not the only trait he is famous for. One other thing that makes him stand apart, is his ability to have unlimited fun. That, and his constant urge to grab a mic, which he did during the Chiefs’ visit to the White House.

The Chiefs, led by star QB Patrick Mahomes, won the Super Bowl last season by beating the Philadelphia Eagles in a hotly contested game. As winners, they were invited to the White House by President Biden, as part of a long-standing tradition of inviting championship-winning teams. The entire visit was filled with the Chiefs making the most of the day, which even included some players breaking into the Grizzlies’ tunnel dance.

Travis Kelce almost got away with speaking at the President’s podium

During the ceremony, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce presented President Biden with a custom Chiefs jersey with the number 46. Right after they were done taking photos, Kelce started slowly shifting toward the podium. “Stay right there, though”, said Kelce to President Biden as he started scooting towards the podium bearing the Presidential seal.

Before anyone could realize what was happening, Kelce was already speaking to the crowd. Though, he was not able to get much out, thanks to Patrick Mahomes. “So I’ve been waiting for this …” was all Kelce could say before Mahomes swooped in and pulled Kelce away from the podium. This threw everyone watching into a fit of laughter. Joining in on the fun, President Biden gave Kelce a “what was that?” look.

It is still unsure if the entire act was staged, or if it was a spur of the moment for Kelce. He had earlier revealed his desire to go on a National Treasure Hunt-inspired search for treasures. Maybe he thought that speaking at the Presidential podium was a good substitute for emulating Nicholas Cage, who apparently is an inspiration for him.

Fans, though, found Kelce’s act quite hilarious. The Chiefs Instagram handle commented “Ladies and Gentlemen, President Travis Kelce”, which a lot of fans picked up on. Someone suggested Kelce ‘”Was gon announce that he’s gon be running for president“, while one other fan was convinced Patrick was a Secret Service agent.

Mahomes and Kelce head into the season as favorites yet again

Last season, the Kansas City Chiefs were one of the teams touted to win the Super Bowl. As many hoped, and expected, Patrick Mahomes led his team to their third-ever Super Bowl win. This season too, the Chiefs are none of the favorites to lift the Vince Lombardi trophy. A chance for Mahomes to win a 3rd Super Bowl ring for himself. Though, their title defense will not be easy.

The myriad of changes in the NFL has set up quite a few new obstacles for the Chiefs to Navigate. The Aaron Rodgers-led Jets will be one team to look out for. So will be the Las Vega Raiders, with Jimmy Garoppolo at its helm. Not to mention, the Russell Wilson-led Broncos could potentially be the dark horse this season. Will the Chiefs be able to make their way to the Super Bowl again this year?
