Who could blame Odell Beckham Jr. for not being enthusiastic about regular-season football given the circumstances surrounding his knee? According to recent reports, the Los Angeles Rams would not have even signed the wide receiver hadn’t he passed a physical in August of last year because they anticipated the wide receiver’s knee to give out.

The Dallas Cowboys also reportedly worried about Odell Beckham Jr.’s surgically repaired knee and whether or not he can contribute this season, which has put a stop to his return to football last week. According to NFL reporter Albert Breer, before the Rams signed him last season, they assumed his knee would eventually “explode” as a result of a botched 2020 surgery.
The situation with OBJ’s knee is so bad, that #Rams people told @AlbertBreer that had they had his physical last year in Aug they wouldn’t had even signed him.

Odell Beckham Jr. Sees No Use in Playing in the Regular Season
Breer stated: “They predicted he wouldn’t make it through the year without his knee exploding… Odell Beckham’s 2020 surgery was a disaster, to the point where the Rams were hesitant to sign him last year, fearing his knee was a ticking time bomb.”
The Cowboys are still working on contractual ideas with Beckham, who, if fully healthy, could command a long-term contract worth $13 to $20 million APY. OBJ has stated, via Micah Parsons, that he will need five weeks to recover; no team has confirmed that timetable
The 30-year-old revealed he hasn’t decided on his future during Prime Video’s TNF, hinting he would prefer a situation that would allow him to walk right into the playoffs.
He said, “I haven’t decided, and for me, I would like to be in a stable environment, get up at 6 and leave at 6 for four weeks, and then let’s talk about it. I’ve been a longtime football player. I don’t see the point, but I’m not saying I couldn’t fill in and play during the regular season. Actually, I don’t. When there is pressure, I prefer to play”.
The report is concerning in regards to his knee because it implies that there is a high likelihood of re-injury.
