Richard Sherman Once Had A Nasty Take On Tom Brady’s “Clean-Cut” Public Image After Infamous 2012 Game

Richard Sherman has been known to be a cutthroat cornerback in the NFL. During his 11 years in the league, he has made a lot of rivals and Tom Brady certainly tops that list. The two stars never went along until they teamed up in Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. Their first-ever encounter which happened in October 2012 was so brutal that three years later Sherman fired shots at Tom Brady’s “clean-cut” image, ahead of their Super Bowl clash.

Sherman, who was a 2nd year Seattle CB at the time, hosted Tom Brady and the Patriots for a regular season game in 2012. However, as the game progressed, things started to heat up between the two trash-talkers. The Seahawks were trailing by 23-10, but Russell Wilson’s two touchdowns which came in the fourth quarter took the Seahawks to victory, yet the exchange continued.

Richard Sherman Exposed Tom Brady of His “Clean-Cut” Image

Years later in 2015 when the Seahawks were set to meet the Patriots for the Super Bowl XLIX, Richard Sherman had a lot to say about the 2012 game and on his rivalry with Tom Brady himself. He said that the trash-talking was started by Brady who was insulting the Seahawks by saying they were “nobodies,” and that “he said stuff like that throughout the game.”

“I think people somehow get a skewed view of Tom Brady,” Sherman said. “That he’s just a clean-cut guy that does everything right and never says a bad word to anyone. We know him to be otherwise… In that moment of him being himself, he said some things and we returned the favor.”

With that start to their relationship, it was clear that things were not friendly between the two. Additionally, Sherman was not happy with how Brady had a narrative of a good guy in front of everyone but was a completely different person on the field. However, this was not the last time when Sherman had a spat with someone.

Richard Sherman’s Rivalry With Skip Bayless

The Super Bowl XLVIII champion has had many such instances in his career where he would land zingers on his opponents irrespective of the place. One such instance was his verbal spat on Skip Bayless in 2020 on ‘First Take’ with Stephen A. Smith. He was brutal in his words as he mentioned Bayless never accomplished anything in his career along with a few more personal remarks.

Recently Bayless rehashed his memories by talking about that instance and saying that he was personally attacked and ambushed when Sherman was in talks with Amazon for a broadcasting role. Interestingly, Bayless and Sherman are now reported to be teaming up on “Undisputed” despite their past feud. Although a contract is not yet signed, it is reported that an agreement is in place. With a blockbuster team in place for “Undisputed,” the show will only become a hit.
