Ronald Jones awarded with high PFF rushing grade for 2020-21 NFL season
Ronald Jones has been spectacular for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season. Here’s a look at his PFF grade, stats and more.
Ronald Jones, the starting running back for the Buccaneers has exceeded expectations this season. With his contract coming to an end, one can expect a big new contract for the rising star.
Ronald Jones awarded with a rushing grade of 86.5 by PFF
Jones rushed for 978 rushing yards this season, averaging a solid 5.1 yards per carry. This is also with playing just 14 games in the regular season. His average of 5.1 yards per carry is also ranked 7th in the league.
Jones also averaged 3.6 yards after contact. He ranks 3rd in runningbacks for this stat. Moreover, was also a complimentary check down option for Tom Brady, recording 157 yards after a catch.
Will the Buccaneers resign him with his contract over?
Jones’ contract would be over after this season. The 23-year-old was drafted in 2018, and signed a 4 year $7 million deal. He is a restricted free agent this season, which also means it is likely that he will resign with the Buccaneers.
If the Buccaneers do resign him it is likely he would remain with the team in the long term. Additionaly, the Bucs are projected to have $25,646,683 in cap space for 2021, so money shouldn’t be a problem. An ideal deal might be for example a 4 year $16 million deal.

However, it is not necessarily that Jones would resign with the Buccaneers. The 23 years old, will be offered other contracts. One team might be the Seahawks. Head Coach Pete Carroll recently declared he wants the running game to get going. With Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde both free agents, Jones might be an option.
