Shannon Sharpe Took a Savage Dig at Tua Tagovailoa Haters After Dolphins' Rollicking Week 1 Win Over Chargers; "Lot of Laughed & Said I Was Crazy"

The Miami Dolphins have started their season off incredibly, and Shannon Sharpe is a happy man. Led by Tua Tagovailoa, the team from Miami scripted a dominant win over the Chargers in their season opener which pleased the former “Undisputed” analyst to a great extent. Tua, in particular, put in match-clinching numbers, throwing for 466 yards with three touchdowns.

Shannon, after the Dolphins’ fantastic win in the season opener, took to X to take a dig at all Tua haters who were sure about him failing against Herbert’s Chargers. Tua has been on the receiving end of hate from NFL fans and analysts, with ESPN Ryan Clark calling him ‘out of shape’ and NBC analyst Chris Simms rating him only the 29th best in the league.

Shannon Sharpe Hits Back at Tagovailoa Haters

This isn’t the first time Sharpe has called out Tua haters and critics. Earlier, he called Chris Simms’ criticism of Tua as ridiculous. Simms had called Tua as less talented than Patriots’ Jarett Stidham. As one can expect, after Tagovailoa’s fantastic win, there was no way in which Sharpe could have stayed silent. Calling out Ben Scott who also has been very critical of Tua, he tweeted –

When I said Tua would outplay Herbert a lot of you laughed and said I was crazy. What are you saying now? Bart Scott don’t you bring your b*tt back on FirstTake. With those sorry predictions again.

Shannon had even called out the Dolphins and their Head coach last season, as they had put Tua at risk by reportedly not following the concussion protocol after his head injury against the Bills. Needless to say, the confidence shown by Sharpe in Tua is definitely paying off.

Tua Speaks His Mind After Win Against Chargers

Tagovailoa believes his team did a phenomenal job against the Chargers and they did not lose the composure in the heat of the moment. Speaking about that after the match a few days ago, he had said, “I am just very proud of our guys and how they went out there. They didn’t let really anything hinder them from continuing their press forward, continuing to play the things they played.”

“It’s always tough to come into another stadium and come out with a win. Our motto was to focus on the play, on whatever assignment that entails during that play and don’t worry about anything else. Worry about whatever at the moment that play entails because the game is hard enough,” Tua had added.

Tua threw for 466 yards on the opening day which is the second highest in the Dolphin’s history, only behind the great Dan Marino. Though the season is long and hard, the Fins look bright and competitive this season. Can Tagovailoa win the Dolphins a Super Bowl and do what great Dan Marino couldn’t?
