He then went on to feature for the New England Patriots as well as the Philadelphia Eagles but those stints were short-lived. Son of NFL Hall Of Famer Howie Long, Chris surely lived to up to his father’s legacy.
Along with football, Chris gained widespread attention after showing his prowess in lacrosse, baseball and basketball as well during his high school days.
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that he made the right choice by choosing football as the sport in which he ended up pursuing a professional career as he went on to become one of the few players to win consecutive Super Bowls for different franchises.
Chris Long Has Been Consuming Marijuana For Years Now
Recently, Chris sat down for an interview with Fox News where he shared a few very intriguing aspects about his professional career. After his retirement, Long has been spotted several times mentioning the positives of marijuana usage and he had a lot to say about the same topic during the interview.
He claimed that since he has started using marijuana as a catalyst to help his sleep cycle get better, things have improved drastically for him. Long added that he doesn’t consume alcohol whenever he attends parties and prefers to consume marijuana instead to overcome social anxiety.
“I’m using it for social anxiety because I’ll go somewhere and everybody else is drinking three or four drinks or whatever, and I’m not really into. I’d like to smoke a joint in the parking lot before I go. And because, for me, that’s my 1-2 glasses of merlot or something,” he claimed.
The former DE claimed that the NFL’s policy regarding marijuana was quite strict back in the day which made things tough for him. However, because the date of drug tests were known to NFL players beforehand, it became easy for him to avoid getting in trouble.
“The couple of weeks that I needed to be off, honestly, the time I would spend off cannabis before my test, I was the worst version of myself because I wasn’t restful. I was anxious,” he claimed while talking about how he handled himself during the testing cycles.
Long went on to claim that the stigma around marijuana’s controlled usage should be removed and people should start treating athletes like human beings, instead of “perfect physical specimens.”
