Hunter was asked about his Heisman projections on Bleacher Report, and he immediately came out with a bold statement. Caleb Williams is the unanimous favorite right now, but Travis Hunter had him ranked at number three.

He mentioned how at the start of the season he put out a post captioned “Heisman loading”, and he’s ready to make good on that promise. Hunter knows the value he provides to his team, and he truly believes that he can show people up now. Earlier, people felt like Hunter was playing in a weaker conference at Jackson State, and he’d need to prove himself with Colorado.

Against TCU, Hunter played 145 out of 160 possible snaps, catching 11 passes for 119 yards. He also snagged an interception in that game. Hunter’s ability to play both sides of the ball is unique, and it’s a trait that could propel him into Heisman talks.

Hunter took a nasty hit against the game with rivals Colorado State. He’s suffering from a lacerated liver hit, and there’s no update on when he’ll be back yet.
However, Hunter is already itching to get back on the field. Before the USC game, he was essentially pleading with coach Deion Sanders to let him play. However, Sanders made the smart decision and told Hunter he needed to rest and recover before he could come back.
“I care about you more than I care about this game,” Sanders replied according to The Sporting News.
