Ousmane Dembele illness: Barcelona are reportedly furious with the French youngster over his lack of communication.

Barcelona have been strong in their last few games without their star player Lionel Messi. Valverde’s side hasn’t lost a game since Messi was sidelined due to an arm injury during the game against Sevilla.

It is unclear, however, if Messi would return for the side as they take on Real Betis in the La Liga this weekend. The Argentine has trained with the rest of the squad, but the decision on his inclusion is yet to be taken.

Meanwhile, the problems surrounding Barcelona star, Ousmane Dembele, don’t seem to end. The French youngster is now under scanner for being AWOL, following gastroenteritis.

Earlier, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reported that Ousmane Dembele’s disciplinary issues have irked the Barca stars, as well as coach Ernesto Valverde.

Ousmane Dembele illness:

Marca has reported that Dembele has been suffering from gastroenteritis, and didn’t train with the squad on Friday. However, Barcelona staff is annoyed with the French youngster for not informing about his medical condition.

Dembele was absent from training, and Mundo Deportivo reports that he couldn’t be contacted for around ‘one-and-a-half hours,’ which annoyed the Barca staff.

The French forward made a good start to his La Liga campaign this season after an underwhelming performance in his first year at Barcelona. However, his disciplinary issues have been a concern in the last few weeks.

Mundu Deportivo reported earlier that the attacker fails to be on time for the training sessions, and the disciplinary problems have not gone down well with the Barca squad.

Dembele signed for Barcelona last season and had an underwhelming start to his career at Camp Nou. The French star, however, remains high in the pecking order for Ernesto Valverde.

What next?

Barcelona will face Real Betis in the La Liga this weekend, and the players will then head out for the international break. Valverde’s side is at the top of the table in the league, followed by Catalan rivals Espanyol and Sevilla.
