Solskjaer on Pogba: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed as the interim manager of Manchester United.

Manchester United appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the new interim manager until the end of the season a day after the club parted ways with Jose Mourinho.

The former Manchester United player will take on the managerial role with immediate effect, and will make his debut against his old club, Cardiff City on Saturday.

In the club statement, Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward stated that the club expects Solskjaer and Mike Phelan to unite players and fans. “Ole is a club legend with huge experience, both on the pitch and in coaching roles,” Woodward said.

“His history at Manchester United means he lives and breathes the culture here and everyone at the club is delighted to have him and Mike Phelan back. We are confident they will unite the players and the fans as we head into the second half of the season.”

As Solskjaer joins Manchester United, a quote from the Norwegian from the beginning of the season has gone viral.

Solskjaer on Pogba:

The manager was in-charge of Molde FK before taking over the interim role at Manchester United. According to Mirror, Solskaer was asked to give his opinion on Paul Pogba.

The former Manchester United star has worked closely with Paul Pogba during his youth career at the club.

Solskaer was highly appreciative of the Frenchman, even urging Manchester United to keep Paul Pogba when the rumors over his move to Barcelona were doing the rounds.

“I would [build the team around him], absolutely no doubt,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports.

“I had him with David [Gray] and Etzaz [Hussain] who is playing for me tomorrow. That just shows how far the kid has come. Paul is a fantastic kid so hopefully we can build the team around him and keep him.”

He also stated that Manchester United cannot be happy with second place, insisting that the club should win the title.

“Second place, yes, you’re back in the Champions League, but I don’t think any of the Manchester United supporters, ex-players or players are happy with second place. It should be top spot,” Solskjaer said.

Solskjaer will make his managerial debut with Manchester United against his former club Cardiff City.
