It might be a little tricky to choose a team beforehand for this match considering both teams are likely to try out their reserve players before the World Cup to get the right combination on the field in the big tournament. However, let us proceed based on our predicted playing XIs.
Wicket-keeper for ENG vs PAK
Now Jos Buttler should be chosen ahead of Sarfraz Ali in all situations. However, Buttler did not play the last match and it will be interesting to see if he does play this match considering Morgan has been suspended which opens up a slot for Buttler. Hence, he is likely to play. Get him in for sure as he can be devastating.
Bowlers for ENG vs PAK
Hasan Ali has been constantly performing well for Pakistan. Ali has been in decent form this series although he has picked up just 1 wicket in 2 matches. Luck should turn his way and Hasan Ali would be amongst the wickets soon. Pick him! Liam Plunkett has been in great form with the ball. With the competition for the pacers’ slots heating up, Plunkett would love to add to his tally of 4 wickets in the series. He is a wicket-taker and needs to be in your team. Chris Woakes is my next automatic choice considering he bowls so many overs at the death and gets great rewards for his efforts. He has 5 wickets and should be looking for more here.
The next bowler in my squad will be Jofra Archer. He has not featured in the last 2 matches but should be playing this one as there are only 2 matches left before the World Cup and Archer has still not received enough opportunities to impress. He will male a big impact if he is in. So do pick him. Now there is a chance that Archer might not play it Woakes might be rested for this game. In both the above cases, try and bring in Mohammad Hasnain or Shaheen Afridi whoever is playing. Hasnain can also be a big threat with his riveting pace. You can also go with him instead of Hasan Ali if Hasnain does play.
All-rounder for ENG vs PAK
I go with Imad Wasim as my only all-rounder for this match. He bowls some tight overs and picks up a wicket or two as well. He has been playing the finishing role pretty well too as he has scored some quickfire innings.
However, if 2 Pakistani pacers are in your team instead of 1 due to one of the English bowlers nor playing, I have the option of going with Ben Stokes here instead of Imad Wasim as I was picking Wasim to complete the minimum 4 Pakistan players needed in my team. Stokes is a much better option otherwise considering he will be probably batting at No. 4 in the absence of Morgan. He can score a lot of runs and also pick up a wicket at least.
Batsmen for ENG vs PAK
Pakistani openers Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq are my first 2 picks for this match. They have been prolific with the bat and have been complementing each other brilliantly. They both have a big century each in the series already and look set to score big again. They have to be in your team at any cost.
My next pick would be Joe Root. He has scored a couple of 40s in two matches and would look to score a big one in this match. He is extremely dependable and hence, I persist with him in my team. Now, my last 2 picks here would ideally be the in-form openers of England, Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy. They are both in tremendous form and are seeing the ball like a football.
They have both scored in excess of 150 runs in 2 matches at a great strike rate. They have both passed 50 in both the matches and should play similarly here as well. However, if England decides to rest one of the openers to give an opportunity to James Vince which is highly probable, you should go with the opener who plays and James Vince. Vince has proven himself in the domestic circuit as a top-class cricketer and he would be itching to put in a convincing performance. If you have 10 credits left, you can also go for Babar Azam instead of Vince for this slot. Azam can also make a big impact in this match since he missed out on the first two.
