Pakistan Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed gets criticised by Pakistan legend Shoaib Ahktar after team's loss against West Indies

Pakistan Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed faces outright criticism from Shoaib Akhtar post first match loss against Windies in the ICC World Cup 2019

That the Pakistan Cricket Team, under skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed is going through a torrid time this year is an open reality, which cannot be rebuked via any form of statistical defence.

They were the first visiting team to have arrived in England, and were obliterated by the Home side 0-4 in the 5-match ODI series. They then bowed down to a lower-ranked Afghanistan side in the Warm-up match of the ongoing World Cup.

If this was not enough, then they received a heavy drubbing from the Windies by 7 wickets in the opening match of the World Cup at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Friday. The Windies side were all over Pakistan like a rash, as the former chased down their paltry score of 105 in mere 13.4 overs. This was their 11th consecutive loss in completed ODIs.

Following their loss the Pakistan team were trolled like anything on the social media sites. But, this was not enough. The former Pakistan Cricket legend and pace-battery, Shoaib Akhtar has come down heavily on Pakistan skipper, Sarfaraz Ahmed post their loss against the Windies on Friday.

What did Shoaib Ahktar say?

In a video posted by Akhtar on the micro-blogging site Twitter, the former fast bowler vented his frustration on the Pakistan skipper, Sarfaraz Ahmed primarily for his lack of physical fitness which he noticed when he came out for the toss prior the commencement of the match.

“When Sarfaraz Ahmed came for the toss, his stomach was sticking out and his face was so fat. He’s the first captain I’ve seen who is so unfit. He’s not able to move across and he’s struggling with wicket-keeping,” tweeted  Pakistan journalist, Saj Sadiq, as exclaimed by Shoaib.

The 43-year-old however, also backed the Pakistan side, before terming their performance as ‘coward’ and the one which lacked intent as a unit. He backed the team and believed in their capabilities since it is still early days in the tournament, and that there are 8 ODIs yet to go as the matches will be played in the round-robin format.

He also praised pacer Mohammed Amir, as he felt he was the lone player in the side who seemed to be giving his 100% on the field, as he took 3 wickets in 6 overs at the cost of 26 runs.
