Pakistan chances to reach semi final: How many runs does Pakistan need to defend vs Bangladesh?

Pakistan chances to reach semi final: Pakistan’s chances of qualifying for semi-finals of 2019 Cricket World Cup seem very dim.

During the 43rd match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between Pakistan and Bangladesh at Lord’s, Pakistan have scored 315/9 in their allotted quota of 50 overs.

After Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed won the toss and chose to bat, Pakistani opening batsmen failed to provide a much-needed brisk start to their team. Fakhar Zaman (13) getting out in the eighth over to Bangladesh fast bowler Mohammad Saifuddin was the first blow received by them.

While Pakistan lost an early wicket, them scoring a mediocre run rate also didn’t help their case. At the end of the first powerplay, Pakistan had only scored 38/1. With them requiring to score a monumental first-inning total, such a start was uncalled for.

It was a 157-run partnership between Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam for the second wicket which laid a solid foundation for Pakistan. While Azam (96) narrowly missed out on his 11th ODI century, Imam registered his seventh ODI century. Before getting out in the 42nd over, Imam ended up scoring 100 (100) with the help of seven fours.

After both the set batsmen got out, Pakistan lost wickets at regular intervals in an attempt to up the ante. With bowling figures of 10-0-75-5, Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the Bangladeshi bowlers.

Pakistan chances to reach semi final

Pakistan needed a minimum score of 308 runs to possess a chance for qualification. In such a scenario, Pakistan were required to bundled out Bangladesh on 0. With them scoring 315/9 now, they need to bundle out Bangladesh on six runs in order to qualify for the semi-final of this World Cup.
