After Pakistan’s 1-0 series victory over Australia in the Test series, the proceedings will now move from international cricket’s ancestral format to it’s youngest format as both the team will be seen playing each other in a three match T20I series starting from October 24 at Abu Dhabi.
The last time both the teams played a T20I in UAE was during Australia’s tour of UAE in 2014. The match was the last time when Steven Smith had bowled in T20Is. Apparently, Aaron Finch was Australia’s T20I captain in 2014 and a series of event have put him at the helm once again.
The T20I series will give Australia a better picture of their T20I setup ahead of their home summer, despite being played in varying conditions. Furthermore, it possesses a chance for some players to cement their place in the side or even make a case for the ODI side.
