Twitter reactions on Paul Pogba getting included in the PFA Team of the year.
As the season concludes in two weeks, the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) have declared winners after witnessing some breathtaking performances over the last nine months. Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk won the Men’s player for last season, whilst Raheem Sterling bagged the young player of the season.
Apart from individual awards, the best eleven for the season has been decided as well. Ederson will shield the goal, while the backline consists of Trent Alexander Arnold, Aymeric Laporte, Virgil Van Dijk, and Andy Robertson. In the midfield department, Fernandinho, Bernardo Silva, and Paul Pogba. Sergio Aguero, Sadio Mane, and Raheem Sterling comprised the forward line.
Plenty of eyebrows were raised for the inclusion of Paul Pogba, who has not been at his best this season. The French International is the highest scorer from the midfield department in the league, but he has been far too inconsistent throughout the season. The likes of Ruben Neves, Fabinho, and Declan Rice have been pivotal for their sides’ success this season.
The World Cup winner has scored just seven goals from open play and six from penalties. Even some of the Red Devils faithful were laughing when they saw Pogba being included in the best eleven for the season.
Here is how Twitter reacted after Pogba was included in the Team of the year.
22 – Paul Pogba has been involved in 22 Premier League goals this season (13 goals, 9 assists), his best ever return in a single top-flight campaign. Worthy. #PFAawards #TOTY pic.twitter.com/70hp92Z24Y

“Pogba is a beautiful footballer, there is no question about that.”
But there ARE questions about his Team of the Year inclusion.

Paul Pogba is the only player included in the PFA Team of the Year who doesn’t play for either Liverpool or Man City.https://t.co/VXkC50doQC pic.twitter.com/wQ7GWu6kyG

Paul Pogba instead of Eden Hazard…. No… still can’t work that one out.

Crikey I rek I could list 15 players better than Pogba this season.

Paul Pogba thoroughly deserves to be in the Team of the Year.
Just not this team. Or year. https://t.co/msgY4xi9xm

As a United fan there’s no way Paul Pogba should be in the PFA team of the year! 2 months playing well and a load of penalties isn’t anywhere near decent. Embarrassing to be honest

Pogba showed a little glimpse of what he’s about and bang PFA Team of the year award. Whilst your favourite CM was grafting and driving Mini Coopers to work this was my CM: pic.twitter.com/SiS24rCrgm

Paul Pogba has been named in the PFA Premier League team of the year.
In other news, Theresa May has won politician of the year, and Bran Stark has won the inaugural Not Being A Massive Starey Creep award.

Take away Pogba’s penalty goals and rebounds from missed penalties and he has less goals than Ruben Loftus-cheek who has only made seven premier league starts this season pic.twitter.com/Gc5sE8b31s

Surely the wider point about Paul Pogba’s inclusion in the Team of the Year is that, a player who has scored 13 league goals and has 9 assists as a midfielder is considered to have had a bad season by a large number of people.

Can only judge on what I’ve watched and Pogba was a vacuous non-entity in 3 games against Wolves. Joao Moutinho’s class and panache has been a key reason behind a promoted club being 7th (!) with 3 games to go. Should be in there instead in my humble opinion #wwfc https://t.co/Pp9birhtwz
