Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho will be open to offers in the summer transfer window.
Philippe Coutinho saw his old side dump his current team out of the Champions League. There was a collective and individual failure which saw the Brazilian receiving criticism after the game – rightfully so.
Lionel Messi carried the Spanish side in the home leg, but failed in finishing during the second leg. On the other hand, Philippe Coutinho lived through inadequate performance throughout 180 minutes, albeit Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi working their socks off to make things happen.
There is no dubiety towards Philippe Coutinho’s merit, but he puts too much weight on his head to become relevant alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. Additionally, Ernesto Valverde is using him as a wide forward – a position which does not elucidate the 26-year-old.
Since Barcelona’s hierarchy discern him as dispensable, they are willing to make up a decision over his Nou Camp future. The forward also holds an identical opinion as he believes that he is in a position to find a new club which plays to his strengths. Coming to a settlement, the former Liverpool midfielder would recommend clubs to submit a bid for him, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Coutinho’s high ceiling remains undeterred among the footballing world – a move from Barcelona could be on the cars. Learning his resentment, Chelsea and Manchester United have indicated to make a move, but transfer to the English heavyweights remains unlikely – not owing to the fact that he is a former Liverpool player.
The reigning Europa League Champions are hit with a transfer ban and the Red Devils are not featuring in the Champions League which would prove to be a stumbling block. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will not meet the £100 million transfer demand by Barcelona.
Long-term target Antoine Griezmann has announced his departure away from the club in the summer transfer window. In spite of turning them down last summer, Barcelona board are still fans of the World Cup winner. He is estimated at €125 million – a transfer fee which is proving to a complication for the Spanish Champions.
