Pochettino on Man Utd job

Pochettino on Man Utd job: The Tottenham Hotspur manager has talked about replacing Jose Mourinho at the club.

Manchester United parted ways with Jose Mourinho two days after the 3-1 loss against Liverpool. The season had been full of struggles for the club as United are currently 6th in the Premier League, with only 26 points from 17 games.

Manchester United thanked Jose Mourinho for his services to the club, as they announced the decision on their social media handles.

Mourinho won the club their first ever Europa League trophy as they beat Ajax in the final in 2017. He also lifted the EFL Cup in the same year. After leading United to second place, Mourinho failed to capitalize on the momentum in his third season as Manchester United fell apart drastically.

The controversies between players and the manager further marred the season for Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino has been seen as a successor to Mourinho at United, and he has finally responded to the question.

The Tottenham Hotspur boss expressed his sympathy with Jose Mourinho.

“It’s obviously sad news and I want to send my commiserations to Jose,” Pochettino said during the pre-match media interaction for the Carabao Cup quarterfinal against Arsenal.

However, Pochettino refused to answer to the question on replacing Mourinho, stating that he has a deal with Tottenham Hotspur.

“I think after five years, there’s a lot of rumour, my position here is that I’m manager of Spurs,” Pochettino said.

“These rumours happen, but it’s not my business what happens. I cannot answer this type of question.

“The business you know very well, a lot of rumours happen. I’m so focused in trying to deliver my best in this football club.”

Mauricio Pochettino has been strongly linked to become the next permanent manager of Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is currently in search for an interim manager, and have reportedly contacted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the job. Laurent Blanc has also been linked with the position.
