Thomas Tuchel Chelsea Contract : The new Chelsea manager has been appointed on a completely newly worked set of terms

Across the last slew of seasons, Chelsea and Roman Abramovich have ended up paying out colossal amounts to managers. With Antonio Conte, Mauricio Sarri and Frank Lampard all being asked to leave prior to the culmination of their full contracts, the London based side has had to dish out staggering amounts to the trio.

While Lampard will only be paid till the end of the season, Conte’s dismissal ended up costing the club a staggering 26.6 million pounds. And in a bid to stave a similar contentious situation with Tuchel, the club has riddled his contract with a bevy of incentive based clauses.

Contract Extension Depends On Champions League Finish

The nitty gritties of Tuchel’s contract which have now been made public have released a multitude of bonuses for him if he can deliver consummate success to the club. Currently on an 18 month deal, the German will have an option of triggering an extension if he’s able to deliver a top 4 finish to the club for two straight seasons.

Tuchel Reveals Initial Qualms About 18 Month Deal

Tuchel had spoken about his contract at the club ensuing his side’s 2-0 win over Burnley.

“At first it was a concern, I was a little like, “Oh, why 18 months?” revealed Tuchel.

“But after only one minute I thought: “What does it change? What does it change if they give me four and a half years? They could sack me anyway.”

“If they are not happy with me, they will sack me anyway. And if they gave me four and a half years they would put in a clause that when they sack me, they’ll pay me.”

The 47 year old was handed over charge of the Premier League club after Frank Lampard ended up taking Chelsea into ninth position. The club’s ever dwindling form was enough to see them to ask the Englishman to pack his bags and depart the club he had guided to consummate success as a player.
