Premier league Transfer New: Arsenal and Man Utd compete for Bayern Munich defender

Premier league Transfer News: Arsenal and Man Utd set to compete for Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng to bolster their defense.

Jerome Boateng has been told by the Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeness that the German International is not required at the club anymore after his penurious performances this season.

This has reportedly according to the Metro incited interest among various clubs, including the Premier league giants Manchester United and Arsenal for the 30-year-old defender.

The club president in an interaction with Bleacher Report mentioned that the German International should look at other prospects as he is no more a regular player at the club.

“I would recommend him as a friend to leave the club, he needs a new challenge, recently he has seemed out of place.” said Hoeness.

The German International has not been a reliable lieutenant at the back for Niko Kovac and have started not more than 20 times for the Bavarians as he has gone down in the pecking order in defense.

Thus, it seems as a great opportunity for Manchester United and Arsenal, who look forward to bolster their defense ahead of the summer transfer window, considering the 30-year-old player can still perform at the highest level.

Manchester United are facing huge defensive crisis, as underwhelming resources at the back have costed them the top-4 spot in the Premier league. Thus, compelling Ole Solskjaer to look at the brighter prospects.

However, looking at Manchester United’s current form and unavailability of the Champions league games is preventing the club to attract suitable players.

On the other hand, Arsenal would also be looking at the reinforcements as they have also been below the expectations in the league. Additionally, possible exit of Laurent Koscielny from the North-London club is making Unai Emery to look for reliable additions at the back.

Therefore, citing the statement by the Bayern Munich President, Boateng seems as a cheap alternative with Premier league experience in the markets. Hence making him a viable option for both the clubs.

Bayern Munich defender still has 2 years left in his contract, but since he is no more required at the German club, it can make this transfer easy but the player is yet to make a comment further.
