Premier League Transfer News: Tottenham attempt to foil the Red’s plans to sign £40m target in the upcoming January transfer window.
Liverpool have a well-established side. The European champion’s steady progress under Klopp has ensured that they have no fear of losing their top stars to other European heavyweights anymore. However, they are still looking to fill key spots in the squad with an eye on the future.

It is for this reason that the club have been keeping an eye on Ajax winger David Neres for the last couple of seasons. The Brazilian played a key role in the Dutch Champion’s progress to the Champions League semi-finals last season.
His teammates, Frenkie De Jong and Matthijs de Ligt were plucked by Barcelona and Juventus. However, despite interests from the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid, the 22-year old stayed put at Ajax and signed a new contract with them that runs until 2023.
The Brazilian is valued at £40m and with Liverpool not splurging in the summer, the Reds could very well make their move for the youngster soon. However, they will now face stern challenge from another club in the Premier League.
Spurs in the running for David Neres
Tottenham have had a very shaky start to their season so far. They have failed to finish off opponents in both England and Europe despite looking good in the start. Their 7-2 loss has now led to the side already chalking up possible transfer targets and Calcio Mercato have now reported that the club is looking to bring David Neres to North London.
Neres’ dynamic style of play could just be what the Lilywhites are lacking. He could help provide them with much needed impetus. However, it will not be easy to convince Neres to choose them over Liverpool; should the team from Merseyside come calling.
The only advantage that Tottenham have over Liverpool is the promise of regular first team football. Liverpool is far too settled for the youngster to expect an immediate place in the starting eleven.
