R Ashwin warns oppositions about his plans to re-do Mankad dismissal in IPL 2020

R Ashwin warns oppositions about his plan to resurfacing Mankad dismissal in the IPL 2020, the spinner has joined Delhi Capitals.

R Ashwin was amidst massive controversy during the last season of the IPL after he mankaded Jos Buttler during Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals match in IPL 2019.

Although it was within the rules of the ICC, the move by him is considered to be immoral and against the sportsmanship. But the Indian spinner has shown no regret over it and defends his act.

“People can say that they believe it is right or wrong, that is their opinion, but you can’t say that Ashwin is a villain. That is not in my character.  I didn’t plan to wait for Buttler to go out and I will hit (the bails). He had done that four or five times” said Ashwin.

Ahead of the IPL 2020 auction, Kings XI Punjab franchise had traded their skipper to Delhi Capitals. Kings XI Punjab brought in Jagadeesha Suchith, after an all-cash trade deal involving Ashwin.

With Ashwin joining the Delhi franchise, a fan on twitter asked Ashwin, “Who are the potential batsmen you can Mankad this IPL?”. Ashwin did not disappoint the fan and responded to him by saying “Anyone that goes out of the crease”.

Ashwin move to Delhi Capitals will certainly bolster their spin department considering the likes of likes of Amit Mishra, Sandeep Lamichhane, Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav.

Delhi had a good season last term as they finished 3rd in the tournament. They missed reaching into the final of the tournament after facing a defeat against Chennai Super Kings in the qualifier 2.

The team led by Shreyas Iyer would be looking forward to improving their performance and reach into the finale in this term at least.
