Rahul Dravid on Asia Cup 2018: “Afghanistan are a force to reckon with”
Rahul Dravid on Asia Cup 2018: Rahul Dravid has cautioned the Indian team on focusing too much on Pakistan in the Asia Cup.
Former India captain and current India A and India U-19 coach Rahul Dravid seems to be highly impressed with Afghanistan cricket team due to their performance in the ongoing Asia Cup in UAE. Afghanistan might have lost the match against Pakistan the other day but the way they fought till the last over was worth the praise.
Dravid was advocating regarding India not taking Afghanistan lightly for they have defeated Bangladesh in the tournament and almost defeated Pakistan as well. As a result, Dravid laid emphasis on India preparing equally well for their Super Four match against Afghanistan.
Having defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets in their first Super Four match, India are scheduled to play Pakistan today and will be seen playing Afghanistan on Tuesday. All their matches will be played at the same venue in Dubai.
Dravid was seen supporting Bangladesh as well, claiming then even can turn out to be dangerous at this stage of the tournament for other teams. “Afghanistan is doing well, I don’t know why we are only focusing on Pakistan. Bangladesh too are doing well. Afghanistan also are a force to reckon with. If I was in the team I would not just be focusing on Pakistan. We are playing very good white ball cricket but we have to be careful of other teams too”, Dravid said while speaking to India TV.
The last line speaks highly of the 45-year old legendary player’s confidence in the Indian team, chiefly after their clinical wins in the tournament so far. If India win today’s match against Pakistan, they are all in likeliness of qualifying for the final.
Afghanistan team had received a lot of approbation for their performance against Pakistan on social media platform Twitter. Watch some of the tweets below:
