Ravi Shastri named Indian Cricket Coach

After the Champions Trophy earlier this year, the BCCI decided to relieve Anil Kumble from his duties as the head coach of the national team.

It was a controversial call as Kumble had seen tremendous success with Team India during his tenure.

But reports of an ego clash between Kohli and Kumble signaled the end for the legendary bowler, as BCCI were unfortunately left to choose between the two.

Kumble was then succeeded by Ravi Shastri as the renowned commentator took over the reigns of the national team.

Shastri had earlier seen some success with the Indian team when he was the team director during India’s tour of Australia in late 2014.

It was during that tour that Shastri formed a close bond with Virat Kohli as the pair got on really well with each other.

Shastri’s influence also helped other players such as Rohit, Ashwin, Jadeja and Pandya to name a few. So clearly he was a popular choice to replace Kumble as the head coach.

The Shastri-Kohli combination has continued to pay dividends as team India has seen tremendous success over the last few months.

The pair will now shift their attention to the South Africa series starting next month.

With India having never won a test series in South Africa, there is a lot of anticipation that this red hot Indian side could create history against the Proteas.

But for now, Kohli is taking some time off as he prepares for his honeymoon with his newly wed wife.

Kohli and Anuhska’s wedding was a huge event as the pair tied the knot in a intimate ceremony in Milan.

Ravi has now sent a tweet in which he congratulated his skipper and wished him well for his new innings.

“Many congratulations young man. God bless you two with all the happiness and a blissful married life. Happiness – @imVkohli @AnushkaSharma
