Yuzvendra Chahal has been fortunate enough to have MS Dhoni behind the stumps during the initial phase of his career.

Not only does MS Dhoni not miss anything with the gloves on, his important tips for Chahal have helped him succeed at the highest level.

MS Dhoni reads the game really well and is able to impart that knowledge onto the bowlers, so that they can come up with different sets of plans for different bowlers.

Yuzvendra Chahal spoke about MS Dhoni’s influence and his first interaction with the great man while on Gaurav Kapur’s show ‘Breakfast with Champions’.

Chahal’s debut series was in Zimbabwe where MS Dhoni was probably the senior most player in the side.

Chahal had received his ODI cap from MS Dhoni during that series and he recalled that beautiful moment.

“I had received the ODI cap from Mahi bhai. He is a legend and was with him for the first time. I was not even able to talk in front of him. He talks so nicely that you wonder if he is really Mahi bhai,” he said.

He then went onto quote a funny incident from the Zimbabwe series when Dhoni asked Yuzi to not address him as ‘Sir’.

“During Zimbabwe tour when I met him first, I used to call him Mahi Sir. After two overs he called me and said, ‘Mahi, Dhoni, Mahendra Singh Dhoni or Bhai. Call me whatever you want’,” Chahal added.
