RCB vs MI Man of the Match

RCB vs MI Man of the Match: Mumbai Indians fast bowler was declared the Man of the Match in seventh match of IPL 2019.

During the seventh match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians at Bengaluru, Mumbai Indians defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 runs to register their maiden victory in IPL 2019.

After being put in to bat by Royal Challengers captain Virat Kohli, Indians ended up scoring 187-8 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. In a match which went down to the wire and was won by a small margin, saying that it was a cliffhanger would be an understatement.

Introduced into the attack as a first change bowler in the fourth over, Jasprit Bumrah didn’t bowl the ideal first over as Kohli scored three outstanding fours on the last three balls of the over. The fast bowler returned the favour in his second over by dismissing Kohli (46), whose attempt to pull the ball saw him mis-timing the ball to Mumbai all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

Apart from just dismissing Kohli, Bumrah also make sure that RCB don’t thrive on a potentially dangerous third-wicket partnership between Kohli and AB de Villiers.

With RCB requiring 40 runs in the last four over, Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma putting his trust in Bumrah saw the bowler dismissing Shimron Hetmyer (5) on the first ball itself. Conceding a solo run in the over, Bumrah reduced the equation to RCB needing 40 runs in the last three overs.

After Hardik Pandya leaked 18 runs in the 18th over, Bumrah once again had to take control for RCB required only 22 runs in the last two overs. Bowling the penultimate over of the match, Bumrah gave away a paltry five runs and dismissed Colin de Grandhomme (2).

Having registered bowling figures of 4-0-20-3 in a match where none of his co-pacer gave away runs at an economy rate of less than 11, Bumrah was declared the ‘Man of the Match’.
