Real Madrid have a deal in agreement for Porto defender Eder Militao.
Real Madrid’s active search for a defender may have come to an end. The Los Blancos have been shambles at the back, losing their recent game against Leganes in the Copa Del Rey Round of 16, but a convincing 3-0 win in the first leg was enough to carry them into the Quarterfinals of the tournament.
Santiago Solari’s side has three quality centre-backs in Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, and Nacho Fernandez, but they have been struggling to find their feet this season. Their defence needs to answer the critics and Eder might be the defender who has the capability to stabilize the defence.
He has not only attracted interest from the capital city of Spain, with Liverpool and Manchester United believed to be the other two clubs interested in securing the services of the Brazilian. But, SportTV are reporting that Eder Militao has a verbal agreement with Real Madrid to join them in the summer.
The fee is rumoured to be around 50 million euros for the defender who has so much age on his side to improve as the day goes by. According to the Portuguese International A Bola, Real Madrid had requested a meeting with the Porto’s defender a week ago.
Eder Militao who is currently plying his trade has been exceptional for the Porto side since his arrival at the club. With the ability to play in three positions – Right back, Center back and defensive midfield, his versatileness is another reason for the clubs to lure him from Estadio do Dragao.
His contribution to the team is exceptional as they have struggled when is not on the pitch. In the 15 league games, he has played in, Porto have been able to keep 9 clean sheets and have conceded just 6 goals in the process. On the other hand, defence has gone for a walk without him, conceding 6 goals in 2 games.
Since his move from the Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo to Porto last summer, the Los Blancos have been keeping an eye on him and have scouted him regularly along with a host of clubs around Europe.
Eder Militao’s agent Giuliano Bertolucci added more fuel to Real Madrid’s talks when he spoke to AS, “There is no possibility of the player leaving his current club in the winter market. “We’re not ruling out his signing for Real Madrid in the summer.”
Should he move to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, he would follow the center-back Pepe’s footsteps who spent ten years at Santiago Bernabeu.
