Real Madrid’s expected lineup vs Leganes
TheSportsRush brings Real Madrid’s expected lineup vs Leganes, as the La Liga giants aim at maintaining their position at the top of the table.
Real Madrid won 4-1 against Girona at the Estadio Montilivi courtesy of Karim Benzema’s brace, Sergio Ramos and Gareth Bale. It was a truly hard fought win by the Whites who made sure to claim top spot and win all the three points in a highly anticipated encounter. After a week’s rest, Madrid will be back in league action with the visit of Leganes to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Let us have a look at Madrid’s potential lineup.
DEFENCE
Thibaut Courtois is yet to break into Madrid’s starting eleven but it would be unfair from Lopetegui to not start Navas after a great display in Gerona. The Costa Rican can be expected to start. Nacho’s great display against Getafe in match week one earned him another start, but it looks like Raphael Varane will replace the Spaniard next to Sergio Ramos in the centre of defence. Marcelo and Dani Carvajal are likely to be the right backs, despite the Leganes game being a good setting for Alvaro Odriozola’s debut.
MIDFIELD
Casemiro is likely to start in the defensive midfield role following a decent outing in Catalonia on Sunday night. The Brazilian looked poor in the first half but showed his class in the second. Toni Kroos did not fit in well as a double pivot next to the 26 year old, but could be set for a much free role next time out. Luka Modric could also be set for a starting berth with Isco being relegated to the bench.
ATTACK
Real Madrid have scored eight goals in their last three matches and the attack has been doing very well. Gareth Bale, who has two in two league games is set to start as the right winger. Karim Benzema has also hit good form and could play as the striker with a third attacker’s spot in debate. Marco Asensio has done well in the last two matches, but a chance for Lucas Vazquez would be great, considering that every other Spanish player has been tested by Lopetegui, barring him and Vallejo.
REAL MADRID’S EXPECTED LINEUP: Navas; Marcelo, Ramos, Varane, Carvajal, Casemiro, Kroos, Modric; Bale, Benzema, Vazquez
