Aaron Ramsey to Juventus

Here is the reason behind Aaron Ramsey’s departure from Arsenal as a free agent.

Arsenal have been blowing hot and cold since the arrival of Unai Emery. The English outfit are currently fifth in the Premier League table and are in contention to secure a Champions League place.

The Spaniard is not reluctant to ship off some players who are not adjusting themselves to his system. Mesut Ozil, who was having a good spell when the Gunners went unbeaten for two months has been warming the bench lately. The Arsenal manager has said that he would pick players who are tactically strong.

Even though Aaron Ramsey has not been dropped for subpar performances, Arsenal manager is willing to let him go as a free agent. The Welsh International has decided to join Juventus as his contract runs down in the forthcoming summer.

There were various reports quoting that the 28-year-old will be earning around 400,000 per week at Turin. That will make him one of the top ten earners in world football.

Ramsey had offers from Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, but they decided to back off after hearing his wage demands.

Gunners offered him a new contract last September, but he decided to turn it down because of the salary they were willing to offer. Even though Aaron Ramsey was willing to commit himself to the club later last year, but Unai Emery decided to back off because of the hefty demands from the player’s representatives.

According to the English publication BBC, it is understood that the Gunners were blown away by the demands from Aaron Ramsey. That forced Arsenal to back off as they do not want another player with a hefty sum because they are already struggling to sell Mesut Ozil.

Besides the money conundrum, Emery had a reservation about the Welsh International’s position. The 28-year-old was willing to operate as an attacking midfielder, but the Spaniard wants his midfielder to work up and down the pitch.

Ramsey is wanting to operate as a number ten more than a number eight which has made Unai Emery not to provide him a new contract at the Emirates.

The former Cardiff City player moved to Arsenal in 2008 and has gone on to make 259 appearances for the club, scoring 61 times for the club.

It will be interesting to see where Juventus will operate Aaron Ramsey. The arrival of the Welsh International will mean that Sami Khedira will be leaving Turin in the forthcoming summer window.
