Roberto Firmino almost makes assist of the season against Genk in Champions League

Roberto Firmino almost produces assist of the season against Genk in the Champions League group stage encounter at the Luminus Arena.

Liverpool met Genk in the third round of the group stages in the Champions League, and so far Liverpool has been able to pull out impressive performance against the Belgian side.

The Reds gained early success in the game when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the opener in the 2nd minute of the game, hence giving a massive start to Jurgen Klopp’s side. Further, the English player scored another goal in the 57th minute to make it 2-0.

Although, Liverpool could have doubled the lead much earlier if Roberto Firmino’s attempt to create a goal had succeeded. The Brazilian International is known for his crucial build-up play in Liverpool’s forward line and his skills are a bonus.

Thus, this time, Firmino combined both and made a splendid rabona pass to Sadio Mane, who came clear in front of the goalkeeper and he tried to latch it inside but was denied by the goalkeeper.

It is a shame that such a piece of skill could not turn out to be something fruitful for Liverpool. But it is sure that had Mane able to score a goal at that time, then undoubtedly it would have been the assist of the season by Firmino.

The outrageous pass by Firmino just proves how incredible the player is and his capabilities, especially under the system of Jurgen Klopp. With this, Liverpool will be at 2nd position in the group table if the scoreline maintains itself, they can go further.

Napoli is ahead of the European champions in the group by 1 point, and are yet to be defeated in this edition of the Champions League, but presently they are playing 1-1 draw against Salzburg.
