Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Roberto Firmino will be fit for the Champions League final.
Liverpool will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the finals of the Champions League on Saturday. There were several doubts about the fitness of Roberto Firmino, who picked up an injury before the 5-0 thrashing against Huddersfield Town at Anfield in late April.
The Brazilian was part of the squad and came on as a substitute against Barcelona in the first leg at Nou Camp, but failed to feature in the rest of the Premier League games against Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Reds were able to pick up three points against those two sides, but the presence of Roberto Firmino will easily make a difference in the midfield and attack department.
During the press conference at Melwood Training Ground ahead of the Champions League final, Jurgen Klopp was asked about the fitness of Roberto Firmino and Naby Keita. The Liverpool boss has ruled the Guinean out of the contention, who was part of the training setup squad which took place in Marbella last week. However, they received a huge boost after Roberto Firmino’s return to full training.
“No chance for Naby, he’s progressing well. Bobby trained then we took him out. But he will be in training again tomorrow. I’m sure he will be fine.” said Klopp.
Over the last two seasons, Roberto Firmino has scored 14 goals and 9 assists, the figures which is bettered by only Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League during the same period of time. The Brazilian is an integral part of Klopp’s system and will possess a major threat in the final third.
