Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

If you would want to summarise the meteoric rise of India in the ODI circuit in the last few years, two names, that of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would dominate most of it. Both these batsmen have dominated the ODI circuit for some time now and if India have any hope of winning the 2019 World Cup, these two will have to continue doing what they have done so far

As an opener, Hitman starts off his innings a tad slow. Once, he gets settled, he toys the opposition, using his counter attacking techniques to perfection.

On the other end of the spectrum, Virat Kohli has an insatiable appetite for netting runs. It’s like a routine thing for the run-machine to be effective and efficient at the crease.

Former India skipper and current CAB President Sourav Ganguly is well aware of the fact that Rohit & Kohli have taken giant strides to nudge India to greener pastures.

Virat Kohli has emerged as the best Indian batsman of this generation, but time and again Rohit Sharma keeps providing us with some much needed dose of his brilliance as well.

“This year, he’s scored as many hundreds as Virat Kohli. We keep talking about Virat Kohli and how great he is in one day cricket but look at Rohit.

He is no way behind, 11 hundreds in 50 odd innings (since 2015),” Sourav Ganguly told India Today.

Ganguly also recalls his memories saying that he had already said Rohit Sharma is a terrific player and a match-winner.

Dada believes that if Rohit Sharma can keep his appetite for runs up there, he can certainly achieve greatness in the sport.

“I have always said that he’s a terrific batsman and a match-winner. Hopefully, he can transform his renewed hunger for runs.

His renewed ability to convert hundreds into double hundreds in the next 10 months. The shots he played was absolutely breathtaking,” Ganguly concluded.
