Romelu Lukaku opens up on why he left Manchester United, says he and 2 other top stars were made scapegoats for their shambolic display last season.
Romelu Lukaku was Manchester United’s most significant departure this summer. The Belgian was greeted with much fanfare and scored 42 goals in his time at Old Trafford. However, the manner in which he parted ways with the club has left his relationship with the club and its supporters in shambles.

Romelu Lukaku opens up on why he left Manchester United
In the LightHarted podcast with Josh Hart, Romelu Lukaku has now opened up on why he decided to walk away from Manchester United. He said:
“There was a lot of talk about me; that the club wanted to sell me, the coach did not want me anymore, etc. I was waiting for a denial from Manchester, that we say;” Rom will fight for his place “but it never happened,” Lukaku revealed. “We discussed and I said it was better to separate”.
“I thought,” Where are the leaks coming from? “They were not coming from me or my agent, I told them it was not good for me to be in a club where I’m not protected “ The Belgian added.
They needed someone to blame
Lukaku was not done there. He said that the entire club performed poorly yet only a handful from team were made scapegoats for their dismal display.
“You know, I wasn’t the only one who played badly at Manchester United. Many played badly, but they needed someone to blame. It was either me, Pogba or Alexis Sanchez.” He said.
Lukaku will play for Inter Milan under Antoine Conte this season. Both the player and coach have expressed their desire to play together and have finally gotten their wish.

However, even in Italy, the Belgian is still scrutinised by United fans.
Many of United’s supporters trolled Lukaku after reports emerged that he would miss Inter Milan’s first match owing to his inability to slim down. The Belgian responded with a shirtless picture of himself captioned ‘Not bad for a fat boy’.
It seems that Lukaku is not one to take lightly to criticism from fans. Earlier in the summer, he leaked private training details from Manchester United’s pre-season to prove that he was not the slowest in the team.
Lukaku has to understand that Twitter and most of social media has become a breeding ground for hostility. At the moment it seems that the trolls are living in his head rent free. So long as he feels the need to respond, he will continually attract detractors who in turn will keep looking for excuses to bring him down.
