Romelu Lukaku Transfer: Man Utd star takes huge stride towards a move to Serie A Giants

Romelu Lukaku has taken a huge stride towards a transfer to the Serie A giants.

Romelu Lukaku has been frustrated since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The forward has fallen out of favour under the new boss as Marcus Rashford has been preferred over him.

Whenever he has featured in the starting lineup, he has been told to drift towards the right to create space for the likes of Rashford and Martial. He is not playing at his preferred position which has totally vexed him. With the transfer window open currently, the 26-year-old has been assessing his options.

Italian side Inter Milan are set to be taken over by Antonio Conte in the summer. The Italian International previously was keen on signing Romelu Lukaku for Chelsea in 2017, but the Belgian chose to work with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United instead. Since he is being frozen out by Solskjaer, a move away to San Siro looks likely.

The major stumbling block in Romelu Lukaku’s transfer is the current deal which expires in 2022 with the Red Devils. He put pen to paper in a five-year deal in 2017 which is coming back to haunt him. The Red Devils are not prepared to lose any amount by demanding the full £75 million which was transferred to Everton.

At the other side, Inter Milan are not prepared to pay more than £55 million to secure his services. There is still a huge variance between these two clubs, but Lukaku has agreed personal terms with the Italian side, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport. He is currently earning £250,00 per week, but he is ready to take a wage cut to get regular game time at Milan.

The terms were wired out when Lukaku visited Milan earlier this month and were conditional on Inter qualifying for the Champions League, which they did on final day of the season.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Manchester United will spend huge money in this transfer window to qualify for the Champions League again. Solskjaer will also be keen to land a silverware next campaign.
