The Real Madrid forward ended as top-scorer in this season’s Champions League.

Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 as Gareth Bale delivered a match-winning performance in the final last night. The Welsh forward scored a brace, while Benzema started the scoring for Real Madrid.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo stole the headlines in his post-match interview when he hinted at leaving Real Madrid. He said, “It was very nice to be at Real Madrid. In the coming days I will give a response to the fans, who have always been at my side.”

His comments have become a major talking point on the internet and among the Real Madrid faithful. There have also been reports linking him to his former club Manchester United.

Cristiano, however, clarified his statement in the media appearance after the final. He emphasised that it wasn’t the right time to talk about personal things. “Maybe I’ve made a mistake, or maybe not,” said Ronaldo.

“It’s something that has been coming for a long time. But like I said, I’ll talk in a week when I will be in the national team because I don’t want to take this top moment from Real Madrid,” Ronaldo said.

“It’s not the right moment to talk or for my teammates to talk about the future,” the Portuguese forward emphasised. He said that the most important thing is Real Madrid winning third consecutive Champions League title.

Ronaldo, 33, signed for Real Madrid in the-then world record transfer from Manchester United. He has a contract with the Spanish club until 2021.

Ronaldo became the first player to win five Champions League titles, winning his fourth with Real Madrid. He also holds the record for most goals in the Champions League.

Earlier, Zidane insisted that Ronaldo should stay at Real Madrid.
